We successfully represented the complainants — mother and daughter — in a constitutional complaint against the judgment of the Regional Court in České Budějovice. The regional court, when deciding on alimony for the child, took into account the savings that the father saved for him in a special account. However, this reduced the amount that his father normally had to pay monthly. The Constitutional Court has made it clear that savings is not the same as alimony -- and cannot replace a parent's obligation to pay regular amounts intended to provide for the child's daily needs.
