We successfully represented a mother and her daughter in a constitutional complaint against a judgment of the Regional Court in České Budějovice. When setting child maintenance, the regional court took into account savings that the father had been putting aside for the child in a separate account, and reduced the regular monthly amount he had to pay accordingly. The Constitutional Court made it clear that savings are not the same as maintenance and cannot replace a parent's duty to pay regular amounts that cover the child's day-to-day needs.
